Description
- This wonderful vintage Navajo concho belt is just loaded with large, beautiful pieces of green turquoise. It features a matching rectangular buckle and 7 conchos. Each concho has copper loops soldered to the back of the concho allowing the concho to be strung on belt leather. This belt has two loops per concho to assure they remain properly aligned on the belt.
- The buckle and each concho measures 3-1/2 inches long by 2-1/2 inches high. The buckle and each concho are each covered with 11 to 13 pieces of green turquoise. There are decorative applied sterling silver balls scattered between the stones, and the edges of the buckle and conchos are rimmed with twisted wire and attractively notched.
- The turquoise is light green with some tan matrix and some pitting. The pieces vary in shape and size, and each is set in a thick plain bezel. The surface of the turquoise is polished to a sheen.
- The black leather belt measures 40-1/4 inches long by 1-1/4 inches wide. The belt weighs a hefty 780 grams (1 lb. 11 ounces).
- The belt is marked sterling silver and signed HN, possibly for Navajo silversmith Hoskie Nez. This beautiful concho belt is in excellent condition.
