Description
- Here is a lovely double-sided Zuni corn maiden fetish carved of apple coral by Sandra Quandelacy, a member of the noted Quandelacy family. The apple coral is dark red with some charcoal lines through it. The corn maiden’s costume, including the corn plant on one side and her leggings and shawl on the other, is rendered with detailed carving. The corn maiden has a Hopi-style hairdo with twists over her ears, straight bangs, and shy, black slit eyes. She has two turquoise dots for a necklace on each side, and turquoise, lapis, jet and mother of pearl dots on one side.
- The corn maiden fetish measures just over 1-5/8 inches tall by 3/4 inch wide by about 1/2 inch thick, and is not signed.
